It took a lot of rearranging to get the bed and highboy to fit in the room properly (thanks, Nipper, and happy birthday!), but once everything was in place, a large empty wall was left...perfect for a gallery of pictures and fun artwork!
I mixed up the colors and shapes, but kept to a common thread of mostly black or white frames. And of course I wanted to DIY most of it, and not spend a fortune in the process!
1. DIY Nailhead Trim Art
2. DIY Magazine Art
3. Fun overhead photo of Babygirl floating in the bathtub, $1 Store frame
4. Decor left over from the Nursery, painted new colors
5. Suzy Ultman Prints in Ikea frames
6. Paris memo board from Target
7. DIY letter, painted & covered in scrapbook paper
8. Mirror, already owned from Home Goods
9. Ikea postcards in Ikea frames, add youth and quirkiness
10. Postcard brought back from our Paris trip, Marshalls frame
11. Small mirror, already owned
12. Art from local fair, already owned
13. DIY Word Cloud to add personalization
14. Magnetic knife rack, Ikea
I wish I could tell you a sure-fire formula for hanging gallery walls. But I simply mark the desired space out on the floor beneath the wall, then go to work arranging items like a puzzle until it feels right. Then I just 'eyeball' where it goes on the wall. I like when the objects have varying depths, so the wall becomes more dimensional.
I also like to mix shapes and add objects other than art or pictures. I just think it's more interesting.
The grouping looks better as a whole if you use varying sizes of frames and objects, but keep the spacing between them fairly similar.
Many of the frame contents can be updated as Babygirl grows, without me recreating the wall!
I added a few personal touches, such as this Wordle, but kept the personalization to a minimum so the wall wouldn't come across as a shrine.
And of course the interactive elements are a huge hit! Babygirl gets a sense of freedom in selecting what she wants to display, and I get to control where (on the magnetic strips and memo board)!
So sorry about the color differences in these photos, but the Gallery Wall is opposite the window! See the peek of pelmet in the mirror?
I don't think I could squeeze one more item or project in this room, which means it's COMPLETE!!!! Are you still with me? Excited to finally see the full room, or over

Looks great!
