Oops! You can't see them too well with the stems on the coffee table. So as Mr. Sugarplum would so eloquently say, "Can we get this tree off the table?!"
Much better. As luck would have it, I was browsing the sales at West Elm when I spied these ikat pillows....for $14 each! (For some reason they aren't on sale online.) Because they were final sale though, 'Rita Return' (aka, me) wouldn't be able to pull her usual tricks...but I took a chance the colors would work anyway.
The down inserts are Ikea, and from unused pillows I already own. The zebra is an oldie from Pier 1 that used to live on my bed. And the lumbar was wrestled from the sweaty clutches of a maniac shopper at the Missoni for Target sale. *Part of that statement may be embellished.* Oh, and the striped throw is an Ikea goodie, as well.
Turns out Rita had nothing to worry about. The pillow colors perfectly coordinate with the room, and pull together the sofa, green wingback and peacock armoire.
I think maybe I need one more pillow (in place of the zebra) that includes the pink from the bookcases and rug. I do have leftover fabric from the bookcase project...perhaps with a dark blue piping? And even though this Living Room Makeover has been derailed, I haven't forgotten about the little nook on the left.
I just don't know what to do with it yet. I'd love to hear your opinions on the new pillows...adding another pink pillow...and ideas on the back nook. That's a lot of homework for this freaky Friday!
And if you're playing catch-up, here's the Living Room progress. Just click on each link for the project. Have a great weekend, lovebugs. I've got a date with an allen wrench!

Wow, the room is lookin' good!! Love the pillows! Isn't it amazing how just adding cute accessories pulls the room together!! Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE NEW PILLOWS!!! My first thoughts were though - I'm suprised she hasn't done anything with pink to pull in the bookcase colors. I think the same fabric with blue piping sounds GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing! I actually like them like this, with the pink not on the sofa. I think it'd look good either way though.
ReplyDeleteLucky Rita - they look fantastic. Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new pillows. Sadly they don't have the blue/green Ikat on the West Elm site anymore. A pillow with pink would pull everything together - can't wait to see what you end up doing/finding.

Love your livingroom and the pillows are beautiful,a pillow with a little pink would bring out the pink in the bookcase!
ReplyDeleteI've been eyeing those ikat pillows but since all my west elm shopping is online I haven't pulled. The trigger. So jealous you got them on sale. I think pulling a little pink in would look great.
ReplyDeleteI think adding a spot of pink just may be the right touch! Love how the hubby refers to your coffee table decor, almost thought I was reading about my own husband right there. What do they know? Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so peaceful and calm. Great job!

You lucky girl! Those pillows work with the room fabulously!! What a great find for that price. I think the pink on the pillow would be the perfect touch. It all looks gorgeous!! The shot with the chair and armoire is so pretty too!
ReplyDeleteawesome find! they're perfect- LOVE you sofa too!
ReplyDeleteThey look great -- I love stumbling onto sales like that!
ReplyDeleteLove the pillows. Fun to see more of this room! And I have to say, with the tree on the table it is looking like spring. Already. Feels like a bigger deal here in Minnesota!
ReplyDeleteI just *love* it when you scoop something up and *BAM*...it's perfection! I think a definite yes to a pink pillow...I mean, did you even need to ask? IT'S PINK! (c: I think this room is looking more and more "you" all the time...I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteOH yes...these look amazing!! Definitely ties the room together nicely! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love them!! I was hoping West Elm would have some for me, but no :0(
ReplyDeleteLove the ikat pillows! A pink accent pillow would be a great touch. Thoughts on the little nook: what if you painted the chest the peacock color (which would look great with the pillows in the foreground) and used a larger mirror to bring more light into this space. Whatever you do I know it will be gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, $14? What a steal! They look great and I agree that a little pop of pink might be nice to tie in with your rug and bookcase.
ReplyDeleteI think you've already made the pink pillow, so I'll go on record saying a pink pillow would be perfect (just so I'm right!). I like it the way it is now too. Love the striped throw and all the black!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you say Rita I have visions of my aunt who drank a lot and smoked Salems.......
ReplyDeleteMoving on, I love the pillows and you my lady are becoming quite the decorator!
Good eye! The ikat covers look great! You could also pull out the lilac/purple tone from the print on the front of your bookcase. Good luck and happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou are plowing through that list! Love your couch. :)
ReplyDeleteThat blanket looks awesome! And love that we both have that little missoni vase :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous! I love the combination of colors and patterns. They all play so well together!
ReplyDeleteI actually really like the zebra pillow. What about adding some pink pipping to that pillow? The zebra brings in some fun texture that helps pull in the black mantel, entry rug and ikea stripped throw.
ReplyDeleteLove the new pillows and the pink sounds super cute!
ReplyDeleteI think the pink pillow sounds great!
ReplyDeleteI need to pick up some pillows our couch. The pillows we have now are from when I had my "girly" apartment.
I have a hard time committing to something new!
I love the wing back chair! I have been absent for a while and somehow missed out on that! I wish that we had more room in our cramped living room. My hubs recliner takes up too much space!
Love the new pillows and what a deal!
ReplyDeleteI like so much this post. Well done.

They look great! Your room really looks pukled together. Great styling
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend

Your room is looking really sharp! I like the mix of colours and patterns on this side of the room. The pillows are a great addition.
ReplyDeletefun watching your progress! about the nook- maybe paint the cabinet peacock, or black. Also a larger mirror- something with gold.
ReplyDeleteI do like the zebra, but I think you're right that some pink would really bring the whole space together. I would say blue or black to tie in with your other pillows. It's looking great!!
ReplyDeleteI sooooooooooo need these pillows!! Gonna stalk my local West Elm ASAP! Hope you don't mind! Looks awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteThe new pillows look great! I think some more touches of pink would be gorgeous! xo K
ReplyDeleteYou need a curvy little piece in that little alcove or a mirrored piece. Stencil the back wall or the whole alcove in something funky but subtle - tone on tone - using the same wall color or introduce one of your accent colors from the LR just for that area. Bigger mirror with more umph!!
ReplyDeleteI want the sofa! Where did u get it? Is it cOmfy?
ReplyDeleteLove the room.. So pretty! I was wondering where you got that rug? Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteLove the room! I was wondering where you got that rug? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley -- your profile isn't set to receive emails, so hopefully you check back here. I wish I could link you to the rug, but it belonged to my grandparents. All I know, is they bought it somewhere in New Orleans while vacationing there decades ago!
