Here's how my Dining Room looks today (minus the wintery branches).
Moving the jute rug in was an improvement, but it just added to the collection of brown. So, when the awesome people at Rugs USA contacted me about reviewing one of their rugs (as in, one they wanted to give me, not the two I've already bought and reviewed on my own!), I jumped at the chance. The Homespun Chevron caught my eye, and it was confirmed when I saw it in Amanda's Living Room. She has great taste, so I knew if she loved it, then it was a good choice.
I emailed her to see if she was happy with it (she is!), and an email conversation followed that I'm imagining drove Amanda to the brink of insanity. Next thing I know, she's taken all the information I'd been rambling on about, and turned them into gorgeous design boards! I'm in love with all of them, so once again, my indecisiveness is crippling me. Cue you guys...the clever readers!
The things of which I am certain are the pale pink wall color (please, Mr. Sugarplum?!), orb chandelier (sitting in a box in my guest room), ikat fabric for drapes (found for a steal at Hancocks last year), gold lamps with black shades, tufted chairs and wall decor. I think. Things
First choice is the Homespun Chevron in Navy. I don't need the blues to match, but they should be almost identical, or two completely different shades. Hard to tell from the website's image.
Or the same rug in Light Blue. Which is definitely not the exact same blue as the drapery fabric, but might be too matchy-matchy with the Living Room sofa.
I've been pining over Pink and Red lately, so I'm even considering this Satara Chevron Daredevil.
Without knowing the exact shade, it might not be a safe bet. So to satisfy my pink & red craving, we considered painting one of the pieces of furniture red. Here are the two blue rugs with red accent pieces:
You'd think shopping with someone else's money would be easy, but I am locked up! You guys have proven to be very talented with your opinions...so which is it? Navy, light blue or the red chevron rug?
And with or without a red accent?
Thanks to Amanda Carol Interiors for creating these beautiful boards for me! If you've got a million ideas swimming in your head, this is the girl to help corral them into a beautiful room. Or if you have no idea where to start, Amanda will create the space intended just for you (without breaking the bank in the process!). This girl is talented, I mean, look at her office (on Apartment Therapy, no less)!
Open the floodgates of opinions...I can't wait to see what you think!

Definitely the navy blue rug! It looks like it would be gorgeous with those drapes.
ReplyDeleteI want to say light blue, cause I loves me some light blue, but the navy chevron looks the awesomest in your mood boards (sorry red!)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh! Ok, I think the navy because I'm having some serious love for navy and pink together. Those design boards are goooooorgeous! I'm dying to see this come together!
ReplyDeleteAhh! I'm seriously torn between the light blue and navy. They both look so great! I'd forgo the red but that's just me.
ReplyDeleteI love the navy, but I'm also just really partial to navy!
ReplyDeleteRed...totes...
ReplyDeleteLove all of these!! I prefer the navy rug without the red accents but you can't go wrong with any of them! Can't wait to see what you pick!

I vote light blue. Looks like it would tie in with your other rug in the living room. Plus, I love it with the drapes. And the red console. Can't wait to see what you go with. liz
ReplyDeleteNavy. No red.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving pink and navy these days... so I vote navy! It offers more drama and contrast.
ReplyDeleteLose the red. Pink should be the pop in this room without having to compete with the red.
I still want that painting. ;)
I'm loving navy these days so that's what I'm going with. I don't love red, however. That being said, you could use it and I may totally love it. Sometimes I have to see it all put together to get it.
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt, the RED rug!
ReplyDeleteI vote navy chevron rug without painting a piece of furniture red. I like the idea of a pop of red, but I think a couple smaller pops {flowers, figurine, frame...} would do the trick sans paint.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!!
I am in love with these options! It is going to be beautiful - way to go Amanda! My vote is light blue without the red accent...but that may be too muted for you - but for me it is perfection!
ReplyDeleteNow this one is an easy choice for me. I love the navy rug with a red piece of furniture!
ReplyDeleteI kind of love the light blue but think the navy would be equally as pretty. I'm not really feeling the red rug but the red accent looks good!
ReplyDeleteThe navy with no accent, or the light blue with the red accent. Hey, at least that gets it down to 50/50! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI love the navy. I could go either way on the red accent.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely navy rug with red accents. The light blue rug looks washed out to me (at least on my computer). The red accents give the room some punch.
ReplyDeleteSo Amanda recently designed a couple rooms for me and I used the "light blue" chevron rug in my guest room. It is definitely more or a light teal than a light blue. I LOVE the rug though. My vote is definitely for the navy for the dining room!!!! Isn't Amanda just the BEST?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the navy rug and I'm going to say no to the red- love the first board as it is.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I dig the navy and red, but definitely love the red accents. Amanda is so talented- so great to see the boards to help you really visualize the room. Tough choice though!
ReplyDeleteI love when you let us assist you...FUN!
ReplyDeleteI would choose the navy rug with red accents.
I like the navy with no red, but any of these are great options. She's so talented! Love her work!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I love those design boards. Amanda is just brilliant!! All of them look so beautiful, so you really can't go wrong. I'm leaning toward the first two though. I will say I did buy the chevron rug from Rugs USA and it is not a light blue as shown in the pictures on their site. However, I knew this was the case from the reviews and actually I wanted a darker blue, so I was happy with it (if you want to see a picture of my rug to get an idea of the color, you can see it in the post link below). I am loving the homespun chevron though...eek better than mine! At first when I saw Amanda's post on her rug, I thought we had the same one, but the homespun isn't as busy since the zig zags are wider, which I think I like better.

Light blue with red accent
ReplyDeleteI like the navy with red accents. I think the darker rug grounds the room well
ReplyDeleteNavy with red accents for sure!!
ReplyDeleteI love the navy!! Definitely the way to go! :)
ReplyDeleteI think the navy rug is the best choice. The red rug is awesome but is more limiting and since you are indecisive and like to change things up frequently I think the red rug would make that harder. I am on the fence with the red accent. But that is what is nice about the navy - it will look great with our without the accent. One thing is for sure - the rug is awesome!
ReplyDeletebtw - I love your humor - it makes your blog so much fun to read.
Antonia (http://re-polished.blogspot.com)
I'd go with the navy and no red accent. I just like how crisp and clean it looks together. The red just doesn't do it for me against the pink walls. Good luck and thanks for introducing us to Amanda! She's quite talented.
ReplyDeleteI love the navy one. You are totally channeling all the colors in my house right now. So jealous your hubby is okay with the pink!!! Although I love red, I think I'd forgo it in this room. I like the navy and pink - the pink is your star color.
ReplyDeleteI love the light blue with the red accents. I too have to have a small amount of reds and oranges for pop in my home. The navy is pretty too but more of a statement. You definitely need the red.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
My personal opinion, light blue. It gives the room a good pop of color and design, but it doesn't overpower everything else.
ReplyDeleteN-A-V-Y!!!!!
ReplyDeletewow! I am loving all these comments! such a great group of opinions! Its sure looking like the Navy is winning. Can't wait to see what you decide.
ReplyDeletenavy with red accent
ReplyDeleteThe Navy rug!!! The pattern stands out more -- the light blue one seems to look too neutral, and this rug is already going to underneath a lot of furniture (table, chairs) as is - I think it would sort of "get lost" in the room. And I personally don't care for the red rug - it looks too orangy red in the pic here and clashes with the pink and your painting in the mood boards... which seem like cooler toned pinks? And I agree with another commenter - pops of a rich red would be great - but maybe not on furniture. Hello flowers, napkins, placemats, runners, etc.!
ReplyDeleteNvy with the red accent!
ReplyDeleteNavy, no red would be my vote!
ReplyDeleteWell now I want to buy that rug for my dining room. Love it. The red is my least favorite. My first instinct is to go with the navy but I do quite like the light blue. I honestly think you can't go wrong with either color. Oh and if you get your husband to agree to pink walls let me know how you accomplished that feat. Still praying I might have a girl one day so I can have an excuse for a pink room!
ReplyDeleteAww, the light blue couch underneath the floral patterned rug is so cute! Certainly my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI think the navy is definitely my favorite...

ReplyDeleteNavy. Navy, navy!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the navy
ReplyDeletenavy, navy, navy, and I like the red furniture
ReplyDeleteNavy without the red accent! What a lovely room!
ReplyDeleteI say the navy with the red accents. Oh it will look amazing!
ReplyDeleteNAVY no red
ReplyDeleteNavy with red accents!!! Looks gorg!
ReplyDeleteNavy with Red Accents!!! Love the visual!!!
ReplyDeleteNavy, no red! Amazing!!
ReplyDeleteOh my word, you have a tough decision ahead of you! So hard to choose, but we just love the navy with the pink walls!!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
mk & Gwynnie
I too love the navy, but no accent of red. So pretty. Can't wait to see what you decide!
ReplyDeleteI'd fosho say navy....and don't hate me, but I'm not totally loving the floral rug under the couch. Sorry! And I absolutely adore you Cassie, and your blog and your humor. Please don't hate me :))
ReplyDeleteKate
Dark navy, with red accents
ReplyDeleteLight blue and NO red
ReplyDeleteI love the light blue in your boards (maybe it's the contrast on the white page?), but I bet the navy would look better in person. And I agree that the pink accents would look better than red. Good luck! Lots of strong opinions so far in the comments. :-)

Hmmm...I like the navy or black chevron. Gee, would love it if Rugs USA contacted me, but I guess living in Canada doesn't help :)
ReplyDeleteI am loving the direction your room is heading. I am just reworking mine and painted my sideboard red!
Dark blue with a painted piece in red. Love, love, love!
ReplyDeleteI like the light blue rug, but am not sure about the red accent piece of furniture.
ReplyDeleteNavy with the red accent furniture!
ReplyDeleteI like navy with pops of red...
ReplyDeleteIf you want to do red accents then you MUST do the navy. I like the light blue but for this room it won't make as much of a statement and you seem like a statement kind of gal!
ReplyDeleteLight blue!
ReplyDeleteOh mercy...if you did the walls pink with the navy rug...perfection!! Plus, all the navy would keep the room from being too feminine.
ReplyDeleteI love the navy rug with the red accents!
ReplyDeleteI would say navy for sure without the red painted furniture. I think smaller pops of red woud be better. I have some great suggestions of barely there pink colors if you want them. I just painted my girls bedroom set. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm all a out navy lately so that's my vote! Love the pink:)
ReplyDeleteLove the first board with the navy rug - it looks fabulous! Don't care for the red furniture piece. Pops of color from the suggested wall hanging and maybe some small accent pieces in dark pink or red would be good if you wanted a little more color. Just recently discovered your blog and I love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm torn between the light blue and navy. The darker color would ground things nicely, but I love the light blue as a contrast against your dark table. Oooooooh. You could always do the navy rug and paint the table a delicious, glossy white! Just what you need - an unsolicited opinion. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh man, lucky girl. They offered that to me too a while back and I can't remember why it didn't go anywhere. Surely I didn't forget to email them back??? Anyway, I say navy or light blue. Leaning towards the navy. And no red accent.
ReplyDeleteYou really can't go wrong with any of the options.... but the best is the navy chevron with red table accent
ReplyDeleteI vote for light blue - it would tie in the sofa to that room and not clash with the striped throw you have on the sofa now. And it would contrast nicely with your table. And no red accent.
ReplyDeleteI vote light blue, and no red! Very pretty!
ReplyDeletexo-Lisa
I like the navy the best with no red accent. I have the same rug in charcoal and love it!!
ReplyDeleteI am not about the red accent on any option. I prefer the light blue so it does coordinate with the sofa in the living room, and isn't too matchy matchy with the curtains in the dining room. It will provide continuity without being boring, and since the dining room looks a bit dark in the photos, the light blue won't enhance that. Love the chevron, LOVE the ikat fabric for the curtains, and REALLY LOVE the pale pink walls!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!

Navy with Red. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI say navy with no red. Love those rug options.
ReplyDeleteThe navy rug, with the pops of red!
ReplyDeleteNAVY!! If I could be a rug, I'd be that one. Here's where you'd think, me being me, I'd make an inappropriate rug joke but I haven't had my coffee yet. So. Also I vote no red accent but that's b/c I have a general color phobia, not a patriotic colors phobia.
ReplyDeleteThat orb chandie has been stalking me in my dreams for months. Gah! I so wish I had waited for those WM tufted chairs b/f we got our current ones a couple yrs ago. That tufting is delish. I'd rent out my womb for that tufting. Thx for the idea.
I am in LOVE with the Navy + Red accents.... Every room needs some red, and those would be stunning!!
ReplyDeleteAmanda is awesome! She's great to bounce ideas off of and talented. I like them all in different ways, but I think I prefer the navy.
