{Big D} Wisteria, The Store

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

With the holidays around the corner, our mailboxes are sure to begin exploding with all the extra catalogs. Most I toss, but a few I read cover-to-cover and savor like a shelter magazine. West Elm, Pottery Barn and Ballard have the best styling ideas, and J.Crew inspires many of my color combinations. Another favorite is Wisteria, which until recently, was catalog-only. Dallas was lucky enough to get the only brick-and-mortar store, and I'm lucky enough to be in the neighborhood occasionally. Let's take a tour, shall we?

Wisteria Dallas

It's a massive, industrial-style warehouse near Love Field Airport, but they've got it staged like a traditional store, with multiple room settings.

Wisteria Dallas

What's surprising to see in person, is the scale of their offerings. I feel a bit like Alice in Wonderland in here.

 Wisteria Dallas

But it's fun to oogle pieces in person after swooning over them in the catalog for so long.

Hands-down, the most frequent question I receive is about the origin of our Living Room sofa. Unfortunately, ours is no longer available, but check out this beauty! Granted Wisteria's velvet sofa is waaaaay more than what we spent for ours.

Most of the items are available through their catalog, but there are also a lot of unique and one-of-a-kind pieces. The prices tend to be the same in-store, but they do have sales.

The pictures can't really give you a proper perspective, but this armoire is about the size of a powder room! (Okay, sometimes I exaggerate a little for emphasis.)

Wisteria Dallas

I need this chair! It'd be perfect for our new Family Room desk area! Honey, are you reading this?

Wisteria knows how to do fabulous mirrors...and this wall is usually filled top to bottom with them.

 Wisteria Dallas

Rugs, lamps, fabric, throw pillows...the list keeps going.

I usually end up near the back of the store with the table linens and kitchen ware.

There's even a small area with jewelry, scarves and ethnic wears.

But my favorite part of the store is the very back, behind a curtain....this is the Flea Market. A space almost as big as the main store, but holds all the clearanced-out items, over-stocks, previous season inventory, etc. My most recent score was a 5-pack of pashmina scarves for $16! I had a few of these $3 scarves monogrammed, for a great little gift! (Except yours, Mom....it was much, much more expensive.)

Wisteria Dallas

So if you find yourself in Dallas, add the Wisteria Store to your list of spots to check out! What are your favorite catalogs? Do you prefer to shop online or in stores? I shop online a lot, but it's always nice to see your purchase first!
